I am doing a supply chain internship in Minneapolis this summer and have been here for about a week now. My dad and I took a 2 day road trip to move me from Utah to Minneapolis. I thought the trip went by very fast, but I also didn't drive most of the time so that could have been one reason for that. My dad is seriously the best. Not many people voluntarily drive over 20 hours. Our trip was filled with junk food, good conversation, and rain. Once we got here, he helped me move in, get settled and familiar with the area.
Before coming to Minneapolis I knew absolutely no one here. But I love new adventures and going new places. I also had a really good feeling about moving here so I had almost no nerves for moving across the country by myself. I have loved my first week here though and have began making friendships and creating memories. Minneapolis is absolutely beautiful. There are SO many lakes, like you pass one every 5 minutes. It's also super green and the twin cities have really cool skylines. Below is a day by day of my first week (ignore my poor iphone quality photos).
MONDAY
Dad helped me move in to my new apartment. He helped me hang all my clothes, replace a light bulb, get quarters for laundry, and fit all my stuff into its place. While moving in, dad kept saying comments like, "yeah you way over packed," "I don't think all this will fit," "how do you have so much stuff for one summer," and "I really don't think this is going to all fit." Miraculously, all of my things and clothes fit just right.
After getting all situated, dad and I drove to where I'll be working, around the city, and then I dropped him off at the airport.
I met my new roommate, Bri, and already love her. We get along so well, and she's super friendly. We went to FHE and I started meeting cool Minnesotans.
TUESDAY
I don't start my internship for a few weeks so I started working on my online class that I need to get done this summer. I have the hardest time staying awake when I'm sitting in one place for a long period of time so I would do my online class for 45 minutes, fall asleep for 45, and repeat that cycle a few times. I need to figure out how I'm going to stay awake enough to finish it.
Bri, my new friend Brandon, and I got wings and fries for dinner. They were delicious.
WEDNESDAY

(Marydale Lake)
I went running around one of the 10,000 lakes, so pretty! It was another day of trying to stay awake while doing my online class. I played soccer at one of the many many parks here with some people I met on Monday. It was a lot of fun, and I was able to meet more people.
THURSDAY

Island Lake

Stone Arch Bridge and the Minneapolis Skyline
(I got this picture offline. The ones I took on my phone were super blurry)
I drove around to explore more of Minnesota, there's so many pretty sites to see. I played sand volleyball with some of my new friends this evening. Sand volleyball never gets old. After volleyball my friend Kevin and I walked over the Stone Arch Bridge to see the Minneapolis skyline at night. It was so cool. Downtown Minneapolis looks like a mini NYC. Then some of us went to my friend Brad's house for a bonfire and s'mores. I love me some s'mores.
FRIDAY

(Arboretum)

(Arboretum)

(Afton Park)

Kevin and I went to the University of Minnesota Arboretum to see cool gardens. We then went to the best ice cream place ever called Milkjam Creamery. It literally melts in your mouth, I want to go there everyday.
Kevin, Nikki, Brandon, Ceri, and I went camping tonight at Afton Park about 30 minutes away. There's no better way to start off the summer than going camping. It was so much fun. We went in the river (it was so cold, I was the only one not to go completely under, I'm a wimp), had a campfire, and ate hot dogs and mini donuts. Bri and Jake came up for a little too and hung out and roasted some s'mores with us.
SATURDAY
Brandon, Bri, Jake, Natalie, and I went to see the new Captain America tonight at a theater with recliners. The movie was great and the seating was very comfortable.
SUNDAY
I went to church today, I love my ward here! Tonight I went to a game night at someone's house in the ward. It was a lot of fun.
I'm grateful to be here and am excited for what the rest of summer has to hold!
